Macular Hole
A macular hole is an infrequent eye condition that can result in a loss of sharp central vision crucial for daily activities like driving or reading.
Situated at the center of the retina, the macula is a small area of light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. Macular holes occur when an opening develops in the macula, often due to stretching or pulling. The majority of macular holes develop due to age-related changes in the eye.
While some individuals with macular holes may experience mild symptoms and may not require immediate treatment, doctors might recommend surgery to safeguard vision if the macular hole is enlarging, deteriorating, or causing significant vision issues.
